USCIRF presents “Respecting Rights?” report to House staff in DC

Joelle Fiss , 9 oct. 2018

International Law and Policy Director Elizabeth Cassidy, from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, shows a report I co-wrote to House staff in DC. The briefing was organized by the Secular Coalition for America, the American Humanist Association and the Center for Inquiry. One House member spoke, Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Md) who gave opening remarks (picture: next to Elizabeth Cassidy who is in middle). Representative Jamie Raskin is the main sponsor of a House resolution urging the repeal of blasphemy laws.

Did you know that more than one-third of UN member states currently have criminal blasphemy laws? Tofind out more, read our report “Respecting Rights? Measuring the World’s Blasphemy Laws”.
