The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe

The OSCE is an intergovernmental organisation comprised of 57 states, where decisions are taken by consensus on a politically binding basis. Joelle a member of the OSCE/ODIHIR Panel of Experts on Freedom of Religion or Belief, member of the OSCE between 2016-2022. Joelle has guest-lectured and has participated in many debates on questions linked to violence committed in the name of religion and different legal cultures around freedom of expression worldwide. The Panel was set up by the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and serves as a consultative body that can be used by participating States, OSCE field missions, and civil- society stakeholders.

Joelle has collaborated on a range of issues including: freedom of religion or belief in times of the COVID pandemic, interfaith dialogue, trainings for civil servants and/or faith leaders, freedom of religion of belief and security, capacity-building and freedom of religion or belief and gender equality.

Joelle is an active member of the Liberal-Radical party in Geneva and stood for Geneva’s parliamentary elections in 2018, where she obtained 20’008 votes. She became an alternate member of Parliament in September 2019 (Députée suppléante du Grand Conseil de la République et Canton de Genève) and a full member in September 2021. She attends all plenary sessions and has regular presence in parliamentary committees.

Joelle is a member of the BBC Expert Women network of the BBC Academy, which is part of a campaign to increase the number of expert women presenters and contributors appearing on TV and radio in key under-represented areas including science, history, politics, business, engineering, architecture and technology.

Liberal International

Since July 2019, Joelle is a Swiss delegate to Liberal International the world federation of liberal democratic political parties. She has been appointed to Liberal International’s human rights committee and collaborates with 23 other members, spanning 5 continents to work on freedom, human rights and the rule of law.

Geneva Centre for Business and Human Rights

Joelle is a member of the Advisory Council for the Geneva Center for Business and Human Rights. The Center works with companies to identify business models that enable profits and principles to co-exist, offering companies a safe space to discuss pressing human rights challenges and to integrate human rights standards in their respective industry contexts.

Joelle is a member of the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB)  which is a global network of parliamentarians and legislators from around the world committed to combatting religious persecution and advancing freedom of religion or belief, as defined by Article 18 of the UN Universal Declaration for Human Rights. It has groups across the globe.
