200th anniversary sparks thoughtful reflections at BIC celebration

It was privilege to speak to the Baha’i International Community on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Bah’u’llah, the founder of the Baha’i faith. The first time that I heard of the Baha’i community was when I learnt of their horrific stories of persecution. They are constantly accused of heresy, apostasy and blasphemy by the Iranian regime. Why are they such targets of hatred? Because their values of openness, pluralism and their belief in the universal nature of the human soul, undermines all theideas of theocracies. The power of the Baha’i people lies in their resilience to resist these ideas of hatred.
